A corner fireplace is usually a standard firebox and mantel installed at
a diagonal in a corner. The exception is a variant of a bay or
peninsula fireplace. It would have two glass sides, with one side
normally longer than the other. A corner fireplace mantel is
generally a standard
fireplace
mantel, although certain modifications may need to be
made with bay or peninsula fireplace style corner fireplace mantels.

Corner Fireplace with Limestone Mantel
Corner fireplaces are often used to give a room a
distinctive look or where limited wall space or other conditions
require. Corner fireplace
mantels (and their hearths) are sometimes modified to extend across the
entire diagonal length.
Definitions:
Bay
Fireplace – a fireplace that has three sides of glass.
The two end sides are shorter than the third side.
A variant with one long and one short side may be used for corner
fireplaces.
Corner
Fireplace(most common) – a standard fireplace which is installed
on a diagonal in a corner. A
standard mantel is used for this style corner fireplace.
Corner
Fireplace(less common) – a fireplace with two sides of glass
placed in a corner. Corner
fireplaces of this design will need modified fireplace mantels.
Island Fireplace - a fireplace that has four
sides of glass, for viewing from any angle
Peninsula Fireplace - a fireplace that has
three sides of glass. Two
glass sides are longer than the third.
